Week Five Preview

Just three area teams left that are undefeated. Camden (4-0), Mt.Markham (4-0), and Frankfort (4-0). Blue Devils have a stiff test as they travel to Carthage, the Mustangs host Cortland and the Maroon Knights host Mohawk. All three games are on Friday night.

All three teams have great running games and play great defense, two big reasons why they are undefeated. Lets hear what you think.

Another big game on Friday is Liverpool at Proctor. The Raider handed West Genny their first loss in the division last week and showed they can win the grind it out game.

Cudos to Holland Patent on giving Cazenovia a run for their money last week. Now they have their hands full again as they host VVS this weekend.

The other match that has our eye is Herkimer at Adirondack. Both teams have just one loss in the division and neither can afford another.

Lets see your predicitions on week five guys!

Mt. Markham's offense appears to be unstoppable against Class C schools. Any predictions on how they'll do against Cortland?

While Cortland is a Class A team, they are 1-3 this season. Mt.Markham will go as Phillips goes there's no question. I think the intruiging match up is in the trenches on defense. The Mustangs gave up alot of points to Adirondack last night and I'm sure that didn't sit well with head coach Rich Waite. If their defense is better, the Mustangs can run over the Purple Tigers.

See my above comment, as long as the defense steps up the Mustangs will be ok. Luke Phillips will get his yards and touchdowns no doubt.

Mt.Markham stays "perfect" against Cortland!!! Kudos to the team, Good for you Steven.Would have liked to see the coaches mix it up a bit.Mustangs had a good lead, could have put in your other players.Be strong guys, your day will come!!!!!!

Cortland shutdown Phillips for the first time this year but the Mustangs used the passing game and their defense really stepped up with 2 int returns for touchdowns. I don't think Phillips even got 100 yards. Deming was on fire hitting receivers down field with passes.

the mustangs coach has to see that next year is coming and he has some great players sitting the bench when he is up by 28 he has to put in the jv players wake up coach..dont live for today..

I agree the MM coach needs to learn how put second stringers in. He's got to realize that next year he's going to have no experience when it comes times for 2008 to roll around.

Great job Mt. Markham Mustangs!! And to those making the comments about the jv players not playing; just remember, there are several seniors on the team who will not get the opportunity to play next year - the jv players will. Keep up the great work coach Waite.

What's Going on with Clinton?

I have to say that Mount Markhams JV players are looking just about as good as varsity. There is a lot of talent on that team. They played Notre Dame under the lights tonight and won with a 45-0 score. Way to go boys......watch out for the Mustangs next year as well with this awesome JV team. They have only lost once this year to VVS and that was a very close game.
