Hard to believe but the final week of the regular season is here. There are still two teams in our area looking to complete perfect regular seasons: Mt.Markham and Frankfort. Mustangs host winless Cooperstown while Frankfort travels to Morrisville. Based on records, both teams have a great shot at remaining unbeaten. Two huge matchups this week: Camden at Whitesboro on Friday night and Notre Dame at Dolgeville on Saturday.
The Blue Devils of Camden have just one loss in the league as does Whitesboro. Key to this one is turnovers. Both teams play aggressive defense soit will be up to the offenses to play smart. As for the other Blue Devils, they are home against the Jugglers. Neither team has lost in the Class D East. However, Notre Dame has struggled the last two weeks with teams that Dolgeville has dominated. The Blue Devils have given up three points in four league games this season, an amazing stat indeed. Dolgeville is in a "smash them in the mouth, ask questions later" mode right now. Jugglers beware. Cudos to New Hartford this week. After starting the season 0-3 and almost playing themselves out of the playoffs, the Spartans riffled off three straight wins and are in the playoffs. Their road to the finals is paved with all road games, but I'll tell you what, I would not want that team in any round with the confidence they now have. Enjoy the football this week and please please let me know what you think.

The BBRC will be ready for camden. Its homecoming and blue and gold weekend.Jason any word on Dan Lounsbury he left the carthage game with a concussion.
Getting back to last week's comments about New York State's class C players and the improbable odds that even the best of them face .... A few facts: Each Div. IA school awards 85 football scholarships, IIAA 63, and II 36. That's a total of 22,779 football scholarships nationwide. With the exception of ice hockey, college football has the highest percentage of high school players going on to play in college (~6%). Most of these are either non-scholarship players in I/II (or III), but there are about 6,000 new football scholarships awarded every year. Phillips has put up rushing yardage this year that would put him at or near the top ten nationally (for all school sizes), but he is not listed on MaxPreps because his school does not register the stats. Based on what I've seen on video and read, I think Phillips and Deming could compete for athletic scholarships at Division I or II. Since this may be new for their school and coaches, they may not be registered in the ncaa clearinghouse of high school athletes. To compete for a scholarship for next year they need to be registered with the clearinghouse, pass the required amount of college prep coursework, and take the college entrance exam sometime this fall.
go mustangs keep up the good work, dont forget the jv players if you are up by 21 going into the 4th quarter.....next year they will be your team, go mustang cheerleaders you rock..
Just a little add on to the comment about the JV players. First I am a huge Mt. Markham fan and the first person to tell you we are here to win. Second is that many people don't realize that the tie-breaker in many cases is which team has scored more points in a season. This is very unfortunate because running up the score doesn't teach the kids anything and you are right that the JV kids will be our team next year. However we need to do everything we can as a team to ensure we get to the highest level we can this year and if that means running the score up and playing startes the majority of the game then I say lets do it!!
my bad its blue and white weekend sorry.
GO CAMDEN!
2nd seed is yours!
6-1 BABY!
little falls great job at mt markham
GO VVS RED DEVILS
Congrats Frankfort on winning the game today against Morrisville and on a great season. UNDEFEATED!!!
Frankfort Football Players Congratulations for having a wonderful winning season.
go mustangs............thanks coach for letting the jv kids paly friday night, it really meant alot to those kids...great job jv players, keep up the good work, I am proud of all of you guys....
When a points tiebreaker is needed for the playoffs, only first half points are used, not the entire game. This is so if a team is winning a blowout at halftime and doesn't play its starters in the second half, that won't count against it, and therefore it doesn't need to run up the score any more.
mt markham mustangs always remeber team stands for TOGETHER EVERYBODY ACHIEVES MORE..............KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK..........YOU WILL GO PLACES....also to you cheerleaders keep up the great job, getting the crowd into the game is like having an extra player on the field. I COMMEND YOU ALL! You all have the talent to go all the way. GETER DONE...
I feel bad for Clinton, once again they end thier season with a shocking 1-6 record, especially with their new coaches. I hope that next year will be a better year for these guys.
